Call of Duty: Mobile (formerly known as Call of Duty: Legends of War, and Elite Squad in it's pre-alpha phase) is a free mobile first-person shooter that was released first in Closed Alpha on December 15th, 2018 for Android systems only in Australia.

The announcement of Call of Duty for phones happened one year ago. Then, Activision, in cooperation with the Chinese developer Tencent, had before them the prospect of a free smartphone spin-off of a popular FPS series. Since the last October, cellphone veterans and fans have been campaigning worldwide for CoD: Mobile. You might be asking if it delivers? After some time, the answer is very clear.

Call of Duty: Mobile: Competition Destroyed

Sensor Tower Inc. experts examined the download numbers the week after Call of Duty: Mobile came out. Apart from the fact that the game has been charting number 1 for iPhone and Android in over 100 countries, it is also clear — with over 100 million downloads in a week, mobile CoD has demolished the competition. For comparison, glorious shooters, like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) with 26.3 million, Apex Legends with 25 million, and Fortnite with 22.5 million downloads do not even reach such heights. Even the recently published Mario Kart Tour could not achieve this figure, falling short with 90 million. It remains to be seen whether the game will thrill the masses in the long term.

Mobile Call of Duty: Old Acquaintances

The game uses characters, maps, types of matches, and guns from the well-known series, and the basic version is free. Activision promises authentic Call of Duty experience on the smartphone. Players battle each other in different playing modes on popular maps that you know from the previous installations, like Nuketown or Crash from Modern Warfare.

Call of Duty: Mobile: Battle Royale

Additionally, to the standard match types, you can raise hell in Battle Royale. It takes place on a map designed for this purpose with famous locations of the franchise. Up to 100 players fight either on their own or in groups of two or four. Other game modes and content, with time-limited events, happen at regular intervals. As you rank up, you unlock characters, like John “Soap” MacTavish, Simon “Ghost” Riley, and Alex Mason. You can customize their equipment and guns. Activision leaves open how in-game purchases will be used. The trailer will provide you the mood of the FPS game.
